On the back of his stunning neoclassical release 'The Quiet Was Loud', rising Bristol based composer, conductor and instrumentalist Joe Galuszka has been making waves with his beautifully arranged pieces. Leaning into the ambience and with a winter feeling throughout, Galuszka really delivers in this captivatng debut, full of promise ahead of Debut EP 'Fractures' set for release in early 2026.

We sat down with Joe to learn the 5 songs he loves right now, here at FLEX!

1. David Bowie - Life On Mars?

“Life on Mars?” feels endlessly cinematic and reminds me why music can feel bigger than life; I was a huge Bowie fan most of my teenage and early adult life especially and still love the infamous tune, as well as his last album Blackstar.

2. Sia - Unstoppable

“Unstoppable” by Sia is pure resilience in sound and always hits when you need strength; we’re working on this at the moment with my choir, Bristol Military Wives Choir, and it really is a well written song.

3. Bob Marley - Three Little Birds

“Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley is timeless calm and optimism, a reminder that reassurance can be simple and profound.

4. Evanescence - Bring Me To Life

“Bring Me to Life” captures raw emotion and catharsis in a way few songs manage; and as a teen I was really drawn to the purity of Evanescence’s lyrics.

5. The Beatles - A Day in the Life

“A Day in the Life” by The Beatles still amazes me with how it stretches what a pop song can be, blending the everyday with the surreal. I studied this at A-level and have been a convert ever since!
