On the back of his stunning Christmas single, Welsh pop star Samuel Evanson has been making waves in 2025 with his infectious and enthralling brand of alt-pop. 'Christmas Bells' possesses that Evanson magic, with those nostalgia filled melodies that remind you of WHAM! but that modernised polish that feels fresh and easy to spin on repeat.
We sat down with Sam to learn the 5 songs he loves right now, here at FLEX!

1. CMAT - Stay For Something
This track changed everything for me when it comes to writing, the way CMAT can tell a story and has such an iconic sound. Hearing ‘Stay for Something’ for the first time changed me, it gave me goosebumps and that’s something I very rarely get with music. Everything about this song is beautiful to me and reminds me of a good time in life.
Production, lyrics and meaning absolutely unreal. This song made me feel so many emotions, though a bit of a rough patch for me this track pulled me through and made me feel that it was alright to go through a bad patch and own it. RAYE and her outstanding talent is definitely someone I look up to in the music industry; she has done so much for independent artists and is someone I would absolutely love to work with some day.
3. Miley Cyrus - End of the World
This track makes me think of golden sunsets, love and being happy and marks the theme song to my latest relationship. The way this track makes you feel nostalgic and happy is something I’ve tried to add into my music without trying to copy it.
Leon takes me through a whole load of emotions and is the reason I started to write music in the first place, this track is the first time I heard her and I felt heard and fell in love instantly with the lyrics, melody, Leon’s vocals and the way her music makes me feel.
The gay anthem we all needed. This track is where my love for synth pop begins. So many others have since joined the synth pop world but Chappell will always be one of the biggest in my opinion. This track inspired me to write “He Gave Me Nothing” and is a nod to this track which helped me achieve so much and made me feel like I could let go of negativity without judgement.
