5 Songs I Love w/ Scarlett Sullivan

Scarlett Sullivan

Fourteen-year-old Scarlett Sullivan is already making waves in the music industry. She started the year on a strong note with her heartwarming ballad in honor of her sister's journey with Leukemia, 'Iron Shield.' The Mississippi-based artist continued to blow us away and showcase her versatility with her hard-hitting heartbreak anthem, 'Problems.' We were eager to learn more about Scarlett's musical inspirations, so we asked her to share the top five songs that have had an impact on her.

Olivia Rodrigo - good 4 u

I love this song because it’s upbeat and makes me want to sing like nobody is watching. I listened to 'good 4 u' at least three times a day when it first came out and eventually, it led to me writing 'Obvious.' This song is so amazing and extremely catchy, 'good 4 u' definitely helped push me into the world of pop-punk music!

Taylor Swift - Don't Blame Me

Taylor Swift is arguably one of the best artists of our time. She has the ability to continuously come out with hit songs. My friend showed me this song a few months ago and I immediately fell in love with it. 'Don’t Blame Me' is a song I will continue listening to for years to come.

Paramore - Misery Business

Hands down, this is one of my absolute favorite songs. I listen to it almost every morning on the way to school. 'Misery Business' has a driving sound that makes me feel like I’m prepared for anything! Along with great music, the lead vocalist of Paramore, Hayley Williams, is also from Mississippi!

Chad Wesley - DROWN

'DROWN' is a heartfelt song with outstanding instrumentals and lyrics. It’s one of those songs that really connects with people. Chad Wesley is a local Mississippi artist. His music is a cool blend of Mississippi Blues and Rock. I’ve been working with Chad for almost five years now on learning music, song writing, and music production. He’s an extraordinary musician and a fantastic mentor.

Avril Lavigne - Sk8er Boi

'Sk8er Boi' is another iconic pop-punk song that I love to listen to. It’s driving, powerful, and all around just a cool song to jam to. Sk8er Boi is another defining song that has deeply influenced my love for the pop-punk music style. In addition to her music, Avril’s fashion style is and inspiration to fans everywhere.
