Brighton risers Faeser are turning heads with the announcement of their debut EP In The Box of Heaven Pictures and the release of its high-energy lead single, ‘Revelations’. Known for their electrifying live shows, the band blends aggressive highs, tender lows, and a raw punk spirit with a flamboyant, freak-show glam aesthetic - an energy perfectly captured in their latest track.
Mixed and mastered by Jag Jago (The Maccabees, Cassyette), ‘Revelations’ fuses expressive punk with melodic alt-rock. The song moves seamlessly between explosive bursts of energy and ethereal calm, breaking into a dreamlike pre-chorus before erupting into a soaring, anthemic chorus. The interplay of punk-fueled intensity and alt-rock propulsion gives the track a compelling momentum, carried by infectious melodies and dynamic arrangements.
Punching drums, biting distorted guitar tones, and a thick, resonant bassline anchor the track, while emotive vocals rise above, blending urgency with vulnerability. The song closes with a climactic shredding guitar solo, combining visceral intensity with nuanced musicality.
“‘Revelations’ is our biggest statement as a band yet and one of our favourite tracks to play,” the band explain. “The recording has such a chaotic, live feel to it, which was important to us as we are, first and foremost, a live band. It serves as a sort of introduction to this world of ‘grunge sleaze’ that we have created; it is as reflective as it is pornographic, and as faithful as it is tempting. ‘Revelations’ is a lighter note in the wider project, a moment of pure fun and chaos in an otherwise melancholic story centred heavily on loss.”
Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Jessica James, Faeser also features lead guitarist Willow Simpson, rhythm guitarist Emia Demir, bassist Matthew Sherren, and drummer Nathan Hayward. The Brighton-based quintet has quickly made a name for themselves, supporting acts like Cassyette at Concorde 2 and Dear Tash at The Social, London. Their first single, ‘No Such Thing’, gained a cult following thanks to its Ari Aster-esque visuals and intense, animalistic lyrics.
‘Revelations’ continues the band’s high-energy emo/classic-rock fusion, channeling the spirit of Led Zeppelin and My Chemical Romance while exploring themes of shame, desire, repression, and liberation. With an opening monologue featuring Jessica James as a crazed preacher, the track showcases the band’s love for theatrics and rock opera, anchored by stadium-sized riffs impossible to ignore.
Faeser are poised to make a significant mark with In The Box of Heaven Pictures, offering a visceral, chaotic, and theatrical glimpse into their singular vision of ‘grunge sleaze’.
