Following the acclaimed release of his self-titled album earlier this year, Charles Costa returns with its standout track 'Emilie', a quietly devastating yet shimmering reflection on love, loss, and the weight of societal expectations.
Framed by ethereal textures and a dreamlike tone, 'Emilie' tells a story of emotional suppression and lost potential, delivered with a tender defiance. Beneath its breezy surface lies a song of rebellion, one that finds beauty in heartbreak and freedom in emotional honesty.
“This song is a result of society’s pressure and expectations on someone and how it squeezed them into a lesser version of themselves,” Costa shares. “It doesn’t sound sad, maybe wistful and dreamy, but to me it’s about spitting out pain and celebrating sadness.”
The release arrives alongside a new live date in London this summer.
