Folklore Records Unveils Folklore Volume 2, Spotlighting New Voices in Songwriting
Folklore Records will release Folklore Volume 2 on July 25, the latest in its compilation series championing fresh songwriting talent. Building on the momentum of the first volume—which featured Bess Atwell, George Ogilvie, and Oktoba, racking up over three million Spotify streams and selling out its vinyl edition - the new EP introduces four artists from across the UK and beyond.
The collection is anchored by two standout tracks: Nierra Creek’s Burn Out The Fire and Quaking Aspens’ Flume. Brighton-based duo Nierra Creek return with a song that feels both expansive and intimate, a sweeping piece of indie-folk recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Penned by Ryan Deag and Sebastian Müller, and co-produced with Julien Fosythe-Lewis, the track shimmers with layered instrumentation, surging dynamics, and a lyrical weight that reflects the pair’s growing reputation for immersive live shows.
Quaking Aspens’ Flume offers a contrasting but equally arresting moment on the EP. Written by Carla D’Amore and Samuel Smith, the song blends delicate, atmospheric instrumentation with rich harmonies, resulting in a sound that is at once spacious and emotionally direct. Recorded at Farm Road Studios and produced by Jake Smallwood, Flume cements the duo’s place as one of the most exciting new acts in the UK alt-folk scene—a reputation strengthened by recent BBC Introducing support and live sessions.
Completing the four-track release, San Francisco songwriter Adam Spry delivers Tangled, a lo-fi folk-tronica cut full of personal reflection and West Coast warmth, while Mezanmi’s This Time Yesterday closes the record with a cinematic slow build that swells from glitchy minimalism to a powerful crescendo.
The release reflects Folklore’s core mission: to bring together musicians driven by honesty, craft, and emotional resonance.
