Mouth Water’s latest track, "JJ (Give and Take)", feels like eavesdropping on a tender moment between a parent and their newborn, full of curiosity, wonder, and a little mischief. Written for his daughter, the song captures that first meeting, when everything is new, uncharted, and full of possibilities.

It starts softly, like the first sunbeams hitting the lake: “So come and shine / Never dreamed you’d be so fine / Salt dissolves in water.” There’s a sense of quiet awe, of noticing small, miraculous details in the world, and in someone new.

The lyrics peek through like journal entries: “You don’t know me / I took you down by the lake / While you were asleep / It’s give and take.” There’s a playful honesty here. The song acknowledges that life—and love—is a balance of giving and receiving, learning and teaching, observing and creating. Even without words dominating the space, the story feels vivid and alive.

Unlike a traditional pop or electronic track, "JJ (Give and Take)" isn’t about hooks or big drops; it’s about atmosphere, emotion, and presence. Each note, each pause, feels like a breath, a quiet conversation, a small moment of wonder captured in sound. You can almost imagine walking along a lakeshore, seeing the light dance on the water, feeling both awe and calm in the same instant.

"JJ (Give and Take)" is part of Mouth Water’s new album, Technology Fueled Dream Obsolescence, but it’s one of those tracks that could stand on its own; an intimate, personal gift wrapped in sound.
