Mouth Water Shares Atmospheric Pop Bop 'Smoke'

Italian producer Mouth Water shares the vibrant new single, 'Smoke', out April 4 through Through The Void Records. Seamlessly weaving elements of synth-pop and dream-pop, the track unfolds like a cinematic reverie — hazy, nostalgic, and emotionally resonant.

Built on a foundation of airy synth layers, pulsing mid-tempo beats, and immersive melodies, 'Smoke' carries listeners into a world where memory and motion blur together. Ethereal vocal textures float above the instrumentation, creating a soundscape that feels both intimate and expansive.

Mouth water shares: "Smoke was born from the urge to tell a story of escape — a quiet rebellion. It's about a girl trying to leave her past behind, crossing borders with a suitcase full of smoke — a hint that she might not be who she says she is. For me, it's a hymn to freedom, but also a bitter reflection: today, we can't truly disappear. The past follows us, even when we think we've outrun it."

That tension between freedom and inevitability pulses throughout the track, giving it a bittersweet edge that lingers long after the final synth fades. It’s a song that feels tailor-made for late-night drives, quiet moments, and anyone chasing the feeling of leaving something behind.

The artist behind Mouth Water is Florence-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Lawrence Fancelli. Fancelli’s background as a sound engineer and bassist — with roots in both New York and Italy — adds a depth of musicianship to the Mouth Water project. His live shows combine analog instruments, digital production, and custom visuals, offering an immersive audiovisual experience.

He’s taken this unique performance style to the stage at Primavera Sound 2024 and as support for Röyksopp at the legendary Tenax Club. Now gearing up for a summer tour alongside Sophie and the Giants, and with a debut album expected in 2025, Mouth Water is carving out his own space in the modern electronic landscape — blending analog warmth with digital sophistication and storytelling depth.
