Essex/London-based singer-songwriter George Bone has announced his forthcoming debut EP The Yes Man alongside the release of a new single, ‘Floating Away’, a sweeping, heatfelt, cinematic track that builds anticipation for the upcming full release.

Fresh from being named among BBC Introducing Essex & Cambridgeshire’s Ones To Watch for 2025, Bone’s latest release leans into the emotional storytelling and stylistic fluidity that have defined his rise so far. The single serves as both an introduction to the EP’s world and a statement of intent: intimate, ambitious, and unafraid to stretch pop into more orchestral, jazz-tinged territory.

Rooted in pop but shaped by neo-jazz and folk influences, Bone’s sound draws from a wide emotional palette. His writing nods to artists such as Chris Stapleton and Dan + Shay, while also aligning with contemporary British innovators like Bruno Major, Eloise, and Conor Albert. The result is a sound that feels both contemporary and timeless, balancing commercial clarity with intricate musicality.

‘Floating Away’ opens with delicate finger-picked guitar lines reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens, before gradually unfolding into a layered, cinematic arrangement. As Bone’s vocal takes centre stage, the track builds with strings, keys, and synth textures that elevate its emotional arc. By the time the drums enter, the song transforms into a full-bodied crescendo, lush with brass, orchestral swells, and a sense of forward motion that carries it into its climactic peak.

Speaking about the single, Bone explains:

“In bringing to life the ebb and flow, the push and the pull, of a relationship, myself and my producer Fionn Connolly implemented very clear rubato phases at the end of phrases, especially towards the beginning of the song. It sounds great overall, and made us both feel high and mighty for doing classical music degrees, but was a pain to programme in!The climax of the song is one of my favourite bits of the entire record. We asked ourselves ‘Which instruments should play the solo’ and we both answered back with, ‘Yes’.This track is the Ying to The Wrong Person’s Yang. This is the rupturing of what is known to be true, and the impossible forceful grief becomes material, even in the most gentle of actions.”

The forthcoming EP The Yes Man is described as Bone’s most cohesive and emotionally direct work to date, reflecting a shift in both process and perspective. He adds:

“I recognise that I’ve diverged quite dramatically from my discography to date. But in making this record, I have been able to connect with my music and myself more than I ever had before. What started as cheap post-breakup therapy turned into a break-up collection with myself. And I have never been prouder for making it analogously and while paying musicians a fair wage in doing so”.

Beyond the studio, Bone has built a reputation as a captivating live performer. Whether performing solo or with a full band, his sets are known for their intimacy and emotional intensity. He has previously supported acts including Molly Hocking and Andrew Cushin at sold-out shows in Camden and Islington, and has appeared at festivals such as Wokingham Festival, Taste of London Festival, and Sounds Good Festival.

His growing profile is further reinforced by ongoing support from the BBC, including live sessions at the historic Maida Vale Studios and repeated appearances on Jodie Bryant’s New Music Monday stage at The Ned. With over 200,000 Spotify streams and international radio play across the UK, USA, and Switzerland, Bone’s trajectory continues to rise steadily.

Additional creative work includes roles with YAMAHA Music London and un:hurd, further embedding him within both the creative and industry sides of modern music-making.

With the upcoming EP The Yes Man on the horizon alongside a run of headline shows, 2026 is set to be a defining year for George Bone.
