New Orleans-born, Brooklyn-based artist THISMINORITY is heavily influenced by a wide range of artists and genres, giving him the ability to ascend past the hip-hop categorisation of his music and switch up styles on a dime. He is a highly creative individual, with his musical journey starting through other outlets such as a dancing and poetry. His video snippets from his debut project were selected to be a part of the Hip-Hop Film Festival in Harlem, NY.
The latest release from the artist is the spacey hip-hop anthem ‘Let Me Have This’ with a beat from Freshisui that balances a heavy use of drums with gorgeous synth sounds to have a high energy yet laid back vibe. THISMINORITY takes this on perfectly, with his signature style allowing him to switch up between faster, more aggressive section to almost slurred, very relaxed slow sections, showcasing his talent to the maximum.
On the new single, THISMINORITY shares that, “What inspired this track was me getting some alone time. Time to myself to create music, do some self-building, or just relax on my own terms. My wife had just left the house and I was listening to the beat Freshisui sent and then it started to come to me, ‘Let Me Have This.’ Most of us just need some space but sometimes feel obligated to let people into our space. Some people feel like you owe them your space. This track is to claim your space and let them know that if they do come, come in peace. No drama, only good vibes. Don’t unload your bad day on me, just give me good vibes. Come in peace in this moment where I’m trying to find peace or build on it. ‘Let Me Have This’ is a reminder to take time to yourself, the time you deserve, and give distance to those who don’t respect it or don’t come in peace.
