Tom Hannay releases heartwarming new album "Dog Days"

Tom Hannay's musical journey managed to take him to Iceland. Upon moving, he started a production trio with Faroese musicians Janus Rasmussen (kiasmos) and Sakaris. They managed to achieve a bunch of accolades, and even produced an album for YouTuber Sorelle Amore. Speaking about this, Tom shares: “I visited a music festival in the remote westfjords of Iceland and was inspired to leave everything behind (it wasn't hard to quit my job as a fridge salesman) and move to Iceland to become a songwriter.” “Since then I have developed my musicianship and songwriting and travelled the world playing music, living in a motorhome for over a year before covid, playing concerts and busking.

However, focusing on his solo career, he's back with a new heartwarming album entitled "Dog Days." The track is a varied musical outlet, with tracks such as "Blunt Force" coming as infectious, sunshine-soaked, pop-infused offerings. Whereas vulnerable tracks such as single "Fade Out Of View" can also be found on the album, with an ethereal, laidback sound.

Speaking about the album he says: “My second album 'Dog Days' is an almost complete rejection of the ideals which had inspired the first album.

Hubris and self-aggrandisement had soaked through to the core of 'the fire waits' and the main takeaway lesson I learned is that I had been a fool for taking so long and myself so seriously.

I wanted to have fun with my second album and write honestly, about my personal experiences. The album is much more of a collaboration than my previous work and started to form after I moved back to Iceland and started working with Janus Rasmussen and Sakaris Joensen. We would have weekly focus groups where we would each help the other with their goals. They helped me realise that I could write just as well quickly as I could slowly. So 'Dog Days' became a collection of experiences that happened over the five months I was writing the album.

They are simple songs about love, loss and things that were happening in the news at the time. I'm very happy with the outcome.”

We, for one, cannot wait to see where he'll take this.
