Carving his own space at the intersections of conscious rap and alternative hip-hop - Wohran’s distinctive sound finds its roots in personal experience and nostalgia. His earliest memories of music can be traced back to rides home from kindergarten, where his mother blasted artists like 50 Cent, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. This was the spark that ignited his creative path, and music would be a place of solace through struggles with mental health and addiction.

Alterity is a culmination of Wohran’s experiences and reflections, an arrival to self-reckoning. The record explores the range of emotions that come with mental health and addiction, charting a journey of isolation, to the bravery that comes with daring to experience life in all its ups and downs. With this, comes the challenges of leaving a familiar reality, in the hope that more is to come for him.

Following his first single ‘True Story’, ‘Clear’ represents a moment of clarity that came when making the project - both musically and personally. On the single, Wohran shares, “My roommate and I were in our little home studio just jamming, and coming up with melodies. He randomly played the guitar part in ‘Clear’. We didn’t use it, cause it didn’t fit the vibe of what we wanted, but I came back to it some time later, after a pretty tough day, and something just clicked.” He continues, “I wrote the entire song from the guitar sample alone. Then, I structured the instrumentation and drums around the lyrics. I didn’t mean to put it on the album at first, but something about it just stuck with me.”

Further on the single, Wohran says ‘Clear’ symbolises the start of a new chapter. “Clear is a representation of the thoughts following your arrival at a point in life where one chapter has ended, but instead of seeing that point as an end, you see it as an opportunity for something better to replace it. It's an affirmation of how the journey through the dark leads to light on the other side, as long as you keep walking.”
