London-based electronic duo Red Mercury, producer Steve Gregory and vocalist/writer Isobel Crawford, return with “People are to Love”, their most cinematic and immersive release yet. Blending drum & bass, techno, and widescreen electronic textures, the track balances tactile low-end production with striking vocal hooks, moving effortlessly between club intensity and narrative-driven atmosphere.

The single features Hong Kong-based DJ and producer Gargoyle Girlfriend (Rachel McInerney), whose ethereal vocals and cyberpunk-inspired lyricism perfectly complement Red Mercury’s modular synth-driven sound. Inspired by the disorientation and exhilaration of arriving in a new city, the track reflects both Rachel’s move from the U.S. to Hong Kong and Steve’s relocation from Australia to London, transforming personal experience into a universal electronic journey.

Constructed almost entirely on Red Mercury’s modular setup, “People are to Love” fuses cinematic techno with progressive house elements, conjuring a dark, futuristic soundscape reminiscent of BT, Boris Brejcha, and Sub Focus. The track is engineered for the festival stage, carrying listeners through neon-lit, dystopian cityscapes while retaining an irresistible dancefloor energy.

Originating from a chance Instagram connection in early 2025, the collaboration highlights the fluid creativity possible in remote production. Shared interests in sci-fi, cyberpunk, and forward-thinking electronic music shaped the single into a fully-realized collaboration that feels both expansive and intimate.

With global DJ sets across the UK and Asia, and more boundary-pushing releases on the horizon, Red Mercury continue to solidify their presence as a forward-looking force in electronic music. “People are to Love” is a cinematic, hypnotic EDM journey that cements the duo, and now trio, with Gargoyle Girlfriend, as innovators in emotive, festival-ready electronic sound.
