Detroit outfit XCVIII return with Till Next Time, a strikingly introspective EP that captures the band at a moment of transition. It’s a project steeped in atmosphere: post-modern art pop framed by alternative rock edges, where flickers of Radiohead-esque melancholy brush against the intimacy of Dijon and the experimentation of Mk.gee. With their debut album on the horizon, this release feels like a breath taken mid-journey—quiet, intentional, purposeful.

Led by Kevin Joseph, the quartet—Joseph, Tristan Johnson, Alex Ramirez, and Moogie Fawaz—lean into vulnerability here, opening a window into the fractures and hopes carrying them through a turbulent chapter. As they build their independent label and restaurant, Crazy Charlie’s, and search for a new member, the band channel uncertainty into something tender and quietly triumphant. Till Next Time isn’t a retreat; it’s a recalibration.

Anchored by the group’s “Dreamsreality” ethos, the EP moves like a soft spell, blurring the line between longing and renewal. “It’s about what’s been lost, what remains, and what’s still to come,” they explain—and the music reflects exactly that. A moment preserved, a horizon still forming, and a band sharpening its voice as it steps into the next phase of its evolution.
